Eco Patrol

It is a summer project for those who want to rest with the benefit for the nature. It is implemented jointly with Federal State Budget Institution “Reserved Baikal Region” and operates in two ways:

  1. Raids of the Eco-patrol on the ferry system MRS-Olkhon,
  2. Research Environmental Expedition “The Baikal Compass”.

The goal is to increase the ecological awareness of citizens, the level of responsibility for the preservation and restoration of the nature.

The tasks:

– Inform tourists on ecological issues in Special Protected Natural Areas, rules of behavior, current environmental actions.

– Prevent the violations of the rules of stay in Special Protected Natural Areas (preventive measures).

– Motivate the population to utilize the solid household waste,

– Receive the solid household waste for separate utilization jointly with partner organizations,

– Conduct the ecological sociological survey.

The venue is ferry system MRS-Olkhon (Sakhyurta village, Olkhon district, Irkutsk region).

 

People who can take a part are representatives of different regions of Russia and other states – citizens over 18 years old. Pre-registration is required. The participation period for the volunteers in raids is 4 days or more. The organizers provide with transfer Irkutsk-MRS-Irkutsk, accommodation, meals, necessary materials, equipment, training. The organizational fee is 100 rubles per day.

  • Research Environmental Expedition “The Baikal Compass”.

The goal is to study the anthropogenic load on the coast of lake Baikal.

The tasks:

  • Account the anthropogenic emissions along the shores of natural water reservoirs on constant transects (Mapping of tourist locations, tent camps, unauthorized dumps).
  • Outreach work with tourists about ecological issued in Special Protected Natural Areas, rules of behavior, current environmental actions.
  • Garbage collection along the route.
  • Accounting of the vacationists in places of mass gathering
  • Scientific tasks that were set in connection with the increase in anthropogenic load (determined by Federal State Budget Institution “Reserved Baikal Region”)

The organizers provide with transfer Irkutsk-MRS-Irkutsk, accommodation (tents, tourist bases), basic foodstuffs, equipment, household supplies. The organizational fee is 100 rubles per day.
